Been encouraging my husband to contact his DF'd brother
by atacrossroads inmy husband has a brother he has not spoken too in years not even when he became an adult.
there is a big age gap between them and when his brother was df'd he was still a small child.
his brother was 17 when he was df'd for sex and when he turned 18 he left home and never looked back.

Maybe you can contact the older brother and tell him just what you've told us. Perhaps he may have some suggestions or will at least be pleased to know that his brother hasn't forgotten him. -

Need Help with Blood Transfusion Illustration
by Dissonant15 inplease, who can provide an intelligent rebuttal to the following illustration?
i always thought it was bullet-proof:.
"if your doctor directs you to 'abstain from alcohol' would you be ok to have it injected into your veins rather than drink it?
-

I haven't read all of the posts but the first thing that comes to mind is that the bible says not to eat blood. Transfusing blood for medical purposes hadn't even been thought of when the Bible was being written. The special regulations about blood were intended to show the sacredness of the life of the animals that were being used as food and to remind the Israelites not to take the killing of animals, lightly.
As far as the alcohol / eating blood analogy is concerned, It isn't logical. If you transfuse blood into the veins of a starving man, he'd still be starving because he needs food and the nutrients it contains. whereas injecting alcohol and drinking it, would have the same effect on a person who was told to abstain from it. If you eat blood, the body digests it however If you transfuse blood, it continues to be blood to do the job of blood is intended to do, within the body.
The comparison of drinking alcohol VS injecting it into ones blood, isn't a valid one. It sounded somewhat plausible when we were taught it as children or were new ones willing to limit our thinking abilities, but really what they are doing is comparing apples to oranges and in this case it's a deadly comparison.

Blurring of genders
by Saltheart Foamfollower inas sometimes happens at elders meetings with the co, he has a letter from the branch to read out.
this rarely is made available later so any policies have to be acted on from memory.
this visit a letter was read about blurring of the genders and in particular brothers dressing in a metrosexual style - tight clothing was mentioned again.

I think it's likely a case of certain Governing Body members seeing young men in tight pants and having difficulty suppressing their own homosexual urges and or it reminds them how out of shape bald and unattractive they are. It's easier to get rid of the ones reminding them of their own insecurities than it is to admit that the problem lies within themselves. -

Silly Bible things you notice when your awake.
by Crazyguy ini sure you guys can list others but here is a thought about the exodus story.
in chapter 1 the pharoah is concerned that the israelites are becoming to numerous.
and just as a side point we can assume pharaohs were not to dumb and even if they were the smart people of egypt studied in the temple 40 years and they studied all things not just religion.

Ok with that said would it not be way more effective to kill the girl babies of Israel not the boys? If you don't get my point a rancher if wanting to grow his herd he will have many females, yet only needs a couple of males.
My understanding was that Pharaoh was afraid because the Israelites were growing in number and these male babies would one day be grown men who could form an army and rise up against him.

Nice little summary by Barbara Anderson re dear old Geoffrey GB and "presumptuousness"...
by umbertoecho injw governing body claims to be the faithful slave.
did you know how (in sworn testimony during the recent australian royal commission hearing) governing body member geoffrey jackson responded to the question, do you see yourselves as jehovahs spokespeople on earth?.
jackson replied, that, i think, would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using.. really?

In fairness, when reading those old quotes from the Watchtower, they indicate that Jehovah is indeed using them but they never actually say that they alone are the only ones he is using. They indicate that they are the "faithful and discrete slave" but they never say that there aren't individuals in some other organization that he may be using as part of that "slave"
You and I and every JW out there know that they view themselves as the one and only channel but technically I suppose they could get around this when pressed for an answer because (like so many things) they never come right out and say it....rather they only make heavy implications.

Why isn't demon possession a DF offense?
by rebel8 inlet's review: it's a cult!.
allrighty--got thinking about it in this thread.
isn't it odd that, of all things, that isn't on the list of df offenses?

They have medication now that cures "demon possession". Most JW's see a doctor before it gets to the point of being disfellowshipped. -

It's a numbers game, no matter whether you're offering free home bible studies or selling white washed graves, if you put it out there for the public to see and you keep at it long enough, somebody's gonna' bite. Just look at the Pontiac Aztec....one of the ugliest cars ever made yet they sold millions of them.
And this is all the more so true when you are using the free labor of 8 million people as well as their donated money, to keep the whole thing afloat.

The Loyalty Question
by choosing life inhow many here have been asked the loyalty question by an elder.
i am referring to, "do you believe that jehovah is using the faithful and discreet slave class to accomplish his work?
" or something along this line?.
-
Pete Zahut
"Do you believe that Jehovah is using the faithful and discreet slave class to accomplish his work?"
Ask him if he means are you loyal to the current "slave" or the ones from the past who had completely different understandings of key doctrines such as Blood Fractions. After all , it could be the difference of life or death in an emergency.

Just had a former elder friend tell me, “This Overlapping generation is crap.
by John Aquila inlast night i ran into a former elder friend, he is in his late 70s.
he asked how i was doing and i asked how he was doing.
then out of the blue he tells me; .

It seems to me that the overlapping that is going within the organization these days isn't between groups of anointed ones, rather it's between the group made up of new ones coming in, the group made up of ones who can't leave or are still believers for now and the group of individuals who are one foot away from or already in the exit door.
They are all JW's at the moment and their time as JW's is running concurrently but each group overlaps the other at some point .
It's like a revolving door where at any given time period there are people entering the spinning door, people circling inside it and people choosing to exit on their own or who are being spit out the other side . They are all current users of said revolving door but they are at different stages of that use.

You: Come to think of it, I suppose I have been missing a lot lately haven't I ? (not a lie )
Them: Blah Blah Blah...Life saving never to be repeated work, end is near,
You: Thanks Brothers....I'll consider your advice and I suppose it would be best to make this a matter of prayer. ( )
OR:
You: I was having eye problems last Saturday....
Them: Oh really ??
You: Yeah....I just couldn't see going out in Service.
